just because cards

So, the other week I made these cards because some of our girls were moving on.  So, I think thhey came out pretty cute and in each one I cut a vellum the size of the inside alone and wrote a scriptuer that would work best for that particular girl...I loved making them and I loved that I knew who they were for so they were more personal and personified what they liked too :-)

I hope these can give you some inspiration for something you can make for someone special.

This one was for someone that loved cheerful colors!

The colors in this one were actually used for this girl's senior pictures.

I rounded the corners with a cutter that my mom gave me for mother's day.

all cards were 3-fold.

This was my fave bc I love interactive stuff.

You can spin the circle and letter emblem around!

The circle is a cardstock-covered ribbon spool top made from carton...recycled!

I just simply clipped into the other side.

These are all the materials I used.

That leaf-shaped container has ink that helped stain the edges to the second card.

Birthday Card for Women/Young Woman

This is very simple!  I actually used two pieces of leftover paper too.

YOU WILL NEED
1 blank card and envelope
1 square, solid color paper smaller than the card face
1 long rectangular decorative paper (smaller than the card again and with at least one matching color to the solid piece)
Paper flower
Gem stone
Glitter

MAKE IT
1. Place the longer, rectangular, patterned paper piece on the face of the card and glue it to the lower half.
2.  On the solid, square piece, either stamp or hand-write "Happy Birthday" or any other message you want to send.  Glue the squared solid pice towards the right side (or left), partly on top of the patterned piece.  Make sure there's enough space for the flower your paper flower.
3.  Either make the flower  or buy it made on clearance.  To make it just cut a flower pattern from cardstock with long, lean petals.  It's easier to use a craft blade to avoid bending and creasing.  Cut our smaller versions of the same pattern and layer on top of each other and glue.  Also, put glue around only tips of flower petals and sprinkle glitter on top of a creased paper to avoid a mess.  Don't forget to shake off excess and return leftover glitter to your container.
4.  Place one glue dot on the back and center of the flower and glue it to the card. Make sure it's sturdy after it dries. Now, place your gem at the center of your flower. You're done!

Birthday Card Pop-up

I made this for my little brother's birthday coming up soon.  He was born on February 29th....leap-year baby!  He will be 7 soon and he loves sports and just being active so I incorperated it all into his card.  These are pretty easy to make since all you need is a blank card, scissors and paper scraps.  I hand write a lot of my stuff because I like to be different.

The colors are a little washed out here, but it's much richer in person.  The miniature swing set was made by small rope-style yarn (the kind you can make tassels from) and I knotted them at the bottom and attached with glue gun dots.  I can't fugre out how to cover them without making it look bulky since it'll be prassed into the envelope.  It folds in nicely the way I left it.  I drew the balls and glue-gunned them on.  The two front balls have thin foam pieces to add dimension too. The grass took the longest to cut, but it I'm pleased with everything.
